Elvis in Hawaii

This is a life-sized bronze statue of Elvis Presley. It was installed in front of the Neal Blasidell Center were Elvis appeared in a 1973 concert that was televised via satellite and viewed by 1.5 billion people around the world. The statue went up on July 16, the anniversary of his death in 1977 at 42 years old.
I heard an interesting fact on the radio the other day. After he died he was dubbed "The King", but when he was alive he didn't want to be called the King either by his band mates or fans. He said there's only one King and that is "Jesus Christ".
His music was popular when I was very young and my favorite Elvis song was "It's Now or Never". He really sang that with allot of power and emotion. I'm happy that Hawaii remembers Elvis, because he loved Hawaii,
Aloha Brother Elvis!
